Meet our Members

Each of our 12 inaugural members applied to be members of the CLA experience. There were over 40 applications for the first year and these members emerged as our first class. Each of them is a student in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources. Meet each one of them below!

Jadyn Bradley

My name is Jadyn Bradley and I’m a freshman majoring in Animal Science with a concentration in Pre-Vet. I am from north Texas in a city called Denton. Agriculture is very important to me; I can’t imagine a life without it. I chose to apply to the Civic Leadership Academy because I want to help the Lubbock community and learn how to become even more involved. 

Nathan Feuquay

Let me introduce myself. My name is Nathan Feuquay. I am a junior Agricultural Education major with a minor in Animal Science here at Texas Tech. I am excited to be a part of the Civic Leadership Academy because of the learning and development opportunities that it provides to me. I am looking forward to learning more about civic leadership and community development. Most importantly, I am ecstatic to discover how I can help to make the biggest impact in my community.

Kyler Hardegree

My name is Kyler Hardegree, and I am currently a junior agricultural communications major at Texas Tech University. Growing up, in Colorado City, Texas, I was active in the 4-H organization, where I showed livestock, competed in 4-H events, and served on the Texas 4-H Council. I chose to become a member of the Civic Leadership Academy because I wanted to be a part of something greater at Texas Tech and because of my desire to give back to the Lubbock community. 

Hunter Harris

Hi! My name is Hunter Harris and I am an agricultural communications major from Abilene, Texas. I joined the Civic Leadership Academy because I acknowledged the opportunity for next-level leadership training while also having the ability to give back to my community.

Savannah Ivey

Hi! I am Savannah Ivey, and I am a senior animal science student from Stephenville, TX. I am most excited about the Civic Leadership Academy for what I can learn and what I can give back to the communities surrounding Texas Tech students.

Morgan Johnson

Hi there! My name is Morgan Johnson, I am a senior Agricultural Leadership student with a minor in Agricultural Communications. I am from the small town of Krum, Texas, where I grew up showing livestock, rodeoing, and raising commercial cattle with my family. I have always had a passion for service, leadership, and advocacy for the agriculture industry, and my involvement in the Civic Leadership Academy has given me the tools, training, and connections I need to make a positive impact in my community and my industry.

​Hi, I’m Caroline Leach, a freshman agricultural communications major from Berlin Wisconsin. I chose to apply to the Civic Leadership Academy because I think it’s important for students to learn and implement new and innovative ways to serve our communities. I am excited to see how my ideas and other members ideas will be incorporated into the Lubbock community and how I can encourage development both now and in the future.

Hey, y’all! My name is Courtney Thurman I am currently a freshman agricultural communication student here at Texas Tech University. Growing up, I was heavily involved in the agriculture and livestock industry, while also still staying involved in my community through many organizations. Combining my passion for agriculture and community involvement, the CLA provides me with the perfect outlet to pursue my passion and grow as a civic leader.

Kloe Walker

Hi, I am Kloe Walker! I am a freshman agricultural communications major from the small town of Celeste, Texas. I wanted to be a member of the CLA to make a meaningful, lasting impact on the Lubbock community. This academy spoke to me due to its goal of helping others!

Braedon Van Berkum

Hey everyone, My name is Braedon Van Berkum. I am from Lynden, Washington, and I am a Sophomore here at Tech majoring in Agricultural Economics.  I wanted to be a part of the Civic Leadership Academy to better equip myself to make a difference in the Lubbock community, as well as my community back home.
